Tip for when someone brings gross treats to share at work:
Oftentimes people will bring homemade treats to share at work. By all means this should be a happy and delicious occurrence, but sometimes due to deficient cooking skills, it becomes a sad and awkward occurrence. If you find yourself offered something less than appetizing and want to save face, follow these simple steps:
1. Force yourself to take one bite
2. Smile and say something along the lines of ”yummy”, or if you couldn’t swallow the previously mentioned bite, “mmmm” will suffice
3. Pretend you have something urgent to do (“Oh, my Tuesday 9:23 meeting is about to start” or “I think I hear my phone ringing”) and slink away*
4. Once out of sight, swiftly dispose bitten treat into the nearest waste receptacle
*Note: Do not let the treat-offerer entrap you in inane small talk. After about 2 minutes it will start to seem suspicious that you are merely holding onto their once-bitten treat, instead of actually eating it.

Always suspect treat baring cat-sweater-wearers.
A former boss (who’s no longer with our group) used to bring gross treats & put it in the fridge in our work room. Everyone’s welcome to have some. It’s left there for months and months and the expiration date was passed. No one dared to trash the treat, because it’s from the boss.
Then one Friday a friend, who’s a good cook, brought some seafood to share during lunch. She kept it in the fridge. Unfortunately, our group got invited for free lunch, so that the dishes was left forgotten in the fridge for the whole weekend. The whole fridge smelt really bad on Monday and thankfully – finally – we get to toss everything there including the gross treats.
Just in case you’re in similar situation, seafood can be quite useful.
